Window Treatments

Anyone with a great appreciation for windows and light will be somewhat of the proverbial kid in a candy store when window-dress shopping. There is a large variety of treatment to choose from as such draperies, blinds, shades, window films, valances etc

Team Floating

Some of the best feelings in the world come from as simple a pleasure as learning how to float!

Seeing as we (a friend and I) had a few extra hours some days ago, we decided to learn how to swim. Yes, if I was plunged into deep, or shallow waters for that matter, I couldn’t float for life’s sake. I recall someone once telling me that I could even sink in a baby pool, rofl! Boo-ya 😉

Floating shelves- “designed to fit within a minimalist decor by hiding the supporting brackets within the shelf.” That’s w’sup! These easy to build and inexpensive shelves can help revamp your walls either for storage or just for display.

An asymmetrical arrangement a fireplace, tv and floating shelves for showcase.

In-between windows, seats or spaces, vertical shelves can be used as a focal point; to create contrast or  for a harmony of some kind.

Image

In place of closed cabinets, open shelves can be a fun way to create an illusion of more space while everything is easily accessible. It would be a perfect time to display those colourful bowls, plates and cups 😉

Above seats and sofas, the shelves can be used to display photos, art work, vases or for mood shelving as such candles and plants. Symmetrical or otherwise, the shelves can be arranged to create various feelings.

Small bathrooms can also benefit from wall shelves. These can be mounted at the corners, next to a vanity or above sinks to stimulate visual interest and make it appear larger.

Excellent book shelves! You can build them to store your books or just to add some flair to other in-built storage shelves.

Being a SaturDIY, here’s a handy link on how to build floating shelves. Cheers and a…

A sneak peek at the house that is..

Let me state, for the record, that I moved in this week! I might prefer it that you send your gifts in form of wine and juices because the house might be big enough to house a bar 😉 Let me also state that I got a tray-full of eggs as my first moving-in gift from a neighbour. I am starting to see why this area is called ‘ Chicken Shags Palace’ LOL!

Image

That is the kind of greenery I’m waking up to 🙂

Anyway.s it gets better. The air is much fresher here and the house is quite S.P.A.C.I.O.U.S for it’s monthly price; I’m not complaining though. The flooring, despite its being tiled, is pretty fine. One reason, no, make that two, why I don’t like tiled floors is because they are slippery when wet and they tend to be cold, brrrrrrrrrrr!

Image

Here’s the kind of floor tiles used.

Now, I have me some very handsome wall colour. It’s something like a cream-white because it’s neither white nor cream. This provides great contrast for the many colours I’ve decided to have in the living room 😉

Image

That’s it coming along just fine. A minimalist kind of thing but work has only just begun *sigh*

I know, I know I should probably invest in some long curtains but no. I adore this bedsheet-now-turned-curtain so much..I had to show them a while 😉

Having posted a few of the pics, considering that the unpacking is not done as yet, let me digress a bit.

There is just one reason I shouldn’t be trusted with a smart phone. And not because it centers on my being clumsy but because my butt has a way of always ensuring that it gets the pleasure of breaking their screens 😦

Tidy in ya souls day and May the 4th be with you!

Small Living…

…..and smaller leaving 😉

Grrrrrrrrrrr! The last few days have been hectic in my house I might have shed a few pounds in the process. I am not a last minute person and so despite my moving at the end of the month, the moving-out process has already began. Of-course there’s the thrill and excitement of moving to a larger space {But it would still pass for ‘small spaces’} 😉

Tomorrow, I’ll be looking through the last few choice of houses before I can finally settle on which one to move into. More interesting is that two of them are a bit ‘out of town’ so that I won’t have to pass through the city center everyday *glee* That in mind, I have been looking up various ways to spruce up small space apartments:

Already, I have a clear picture of how I might want it to be like *muses* Complete with a mini-home-office because then, there’s the idea of doubling up:

There you are! Anyone with more ideas? Please share with us, thank you. Hoping to take a few pictures of the various apartments that I see.

Cheers and a tidy in ya souls day! 😉
